Sources say that a foreign national was responsible for a dramatic electrical fire that happened in a suburb of Phnom Penh this morning.
Witnesses say that at around 11 am on March 3, 2022 on Ang Ta Minh road in Trung Moan village, Sangkat O Bek Kam, Khan Sen Sok, a Chinese national – disturbed by a power outage that was affecting his house – decided to take his life in his hands and started to strike an electrical junction box with what has been described as a ‘stick’.
According to onlookers, smoke began to issue from the box, then fire and then cables attached to the box exploded into flames.
Local residents took fire hoses to put out the fire until a fire truck came out to help put out the fire.
The blaze, which started on a combination of wires and cables, did not injure residents, but many cables and wires were burnt down the road.
It is believed that the perpetrator will be spoken to by authorities about his behaviour.
