Authorities see decline in fire incidents across nation

The National Committee for Disaster Management has said that in the first four months of this year, there were 183 incidents of fire and nearly 30 casualties across the Kingdom.
Its top official Khun Sokha quoting a report, said yesterday that between January and April, there were 183 fires, which damaged 239 homes, 40 market stalls, nine warehouses, two schools, five handicraft factories and two administrative buildings.
He added that 37 incidents were reported in Phnom Penh, which damaged 66 houses, four warehouses, a school, a factory and killed one person and injured 11 others.
Eighteen cases were reported in Battambang and 13 in Kampong Speu province with two deaths. There were 14 cases in Banteay Meanchey province, 10 cases in Kandal province, 10 in Siem Reap province, six in Svay Rieng province with one fatality. Six cases were reported in Kampong Cham province with the death of one person.
Sokha added, “The number of fires were less compared to the same period in 2021.”
Fire and Rescue Police Department chief, Brigadier General Neth Vantha said yesterday that according to police investigation, most of the fires were caused by electrical fault or fuel at homes and he blamed them on the carelessness of people.
