Six houses destroyed by a big fire in Kampong Chhang

At least six house have been completely burned down, and three others partially destroyed by a fire yesterday in Kampong Chhang.

The incident took place at Kampong Basrov village of Chul Kiri District.

The district police chief Colonel Hem Yong said the disaster was caused by a kitchen fire which went out of control.

“A child was cooking porridge on the stove and didn’t put out the fire when he went to eat his food at a neighbour’s house, his parents were not at home when the incident happened,” he added

He noted that fire was initially seen spreading out of the house and quickly spread as most the nearby houses were made of leaves. It took 10 fire trucks to extinguish the fire completely.

Yong said the authorities have not estimated the damage caused by the fire yet.
