Man sets fire to house in anger resulting in four wooden houses destroyed

A man who was embroiled in a family dispute, in his fit of anger, set fire to his house that resulted in three other wooden houses also being completely destroyed in Daun Penh district’s Srah Chak commune yesterday.

The incident happened about 11.20pm.

Phnom Penh Municipal Police’s Fire Prevention and Rescue Office director Col Prohm Yorn said the incident happened when a house owner, Leang Tin Thi, 32, a construction worker was involved in an heated argument with his family members.

In the fit of anger, he said the man set fire to his wooden house and the raging flames spread to neighbouring three houses, causing all to be razed to the ground.

It is learned that nothing could be salvaged from the houses due to the intense heat from the billowing flames.

Twenty-seven fire trucks which arrived at the scene, managed to contain the fire after much battling.
