National Police chief General Neth Savoeun handed over two new modern fire trucks on Monday to the Fire and Rescue Police Department (FRPD) and the Phnom Penh Police commissioner respectively.

FRPD director Lieutenant General Neth Vantha confirmed that the fire trucks are more powerful than current trucks being used.

Lt Gen Vantha said this modern fire truck can hold 8,000 litres of water and quickly spray water about 30 metres high.

“All citizens must be very careful in each house, even if the officers have a modern fire truck, you must not be negligent,” Lt Gen Vantha added.

Phnom Penh Municipal Police spokesman Colonel San Sokseiha told Khmer Times yesterday that the two trucks were a gift from Gen Savoeun, who used his own funds to buy them.

Col Sokseiha confirmed that: “The fire trucks are the most modern type which the Phnom Penh Police have never had before. It has more special capabilities than the fire trucks we currently have. This truck has a device to break a concrete wall when encountering obstacles.”
