Tram Kak Market vendor’s woes grow when fire razed 50 of their stalls while still reeling from effects of the Covid-19 pandemic

A fire which broke out last night at Tram Kak market in Trapeang Rumpak village, Tram Kak commune, Tram Kak district, Takeo province, caused significant amounts in losses and damage to property.
Say Vannak, Deputy Governor of Tram Kak District, said that the fire was caused by a short circuit and burned 50 stalls – damaging 35 others badly and completely destroying 15 others. Due to pandemic and closure of markets, there were no injuries nor loss of life.
According to the deputy district governor, the authorities have not been able to assess the amount of damage in terms. The authorities are scheduled to meet with the commune and stall owners first to assess the amount of damage.
In this firefighting operation, the police force of the Office of Fire Prevention and Rescue of the Provincial Police in cooperation with the Tram Kak District Police Inspectorate and related forces helped to put out the fire by using 3 trucks from Takeo Provincial Police, 1 unit in Tram Kak District, 1 unit in Traing District. 01 unit in Samrong district, 01 unit in Bati district, 01 unit in Prey Kabbas district, 01 unit in Koh Andet district, 01 unit in Kirivong district, 01 unit in Angkor Chey District Police Inspectorate, 01 unit in Chhouk District.
A total of 14 water trucks were in the operation to bring the blaze under control before extinguishing it.
