The three remaining victims of a fire last week at the Golden Rice Factory in Kampong Speu province’s Odong district died on Saturday, an official said yesterday.

Choek Borin, provincial labour department director, said that two of the victims died while being treated in Vietnam, while the third died in Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh.

He noted that two people died and four people were hurt in Wednesday’s fire, and that one of the injured died the following day.

“On Saturday, the other three victims died because they were too seriously injured,” Mr Borin said. “Out of the six victims of Wednesday’s fire, two died in the hospital in Vietnam and the other four died in Cambodia.”

Mr Borin said that the two victims’ bodies were brought back to Cambodia from Vietnam on Saturday and the National Social Security Fund has provided funds to all the victims’ families.
